CPQ Solution Configurator Bundle Types
A bundle is simply a group of products that companies like to sell together. When a sales rep selects the bundle to sell, all the products in the bundle come with it instead of selecting each individual product that technically can go together. Salesforce CPQ has three types of bundles as follows.
The name of this bundle is pretty self-explanatory. The product list in this bundle is static. This means the sales rep will not be allowed to make any changes to the product list in this bundle type.
This type allows the sales rep to make changes to the kinds of products within the bundle. Changes can be restricted like certain products cannot be added or removed, dependent on another product within the bundle.
Bundle within another bundle is called the nested bundle. This bundle type allows organizations to make large bundles by adding smaller bundles within one bundle.
Control the Configuration Experience
Giving your sales reps the ability to customize the bundle is an excellent approach to make sure they sell the right products together. Certain bundle types are configurable almost every time they are sold; other types are only allowed to be configured occasionally. Salesforce administrator has full control over how bundles appear and edited within quote line editor.
Configuration Type and Configuration Event are two types of fields that control when and how they can configure the bundle.
Let’s have a look at some scenarios that affect how sales reps interact with bundles.
For a quote bundle that needs to be customized more frequently
Allow Sales rep to reconfigure by showing configurator page right after bundle selection
Occasional customization of bundle required for the quote
Provide just reconfigure option instead navigating them to configurator page
Bundles that are never customized
Don’t show configuration page and don’t provide reconfigure option
Bundles that inform later decisions in the sales process, such as what configurations are allowed for the next bundle that’s added; this setting is rarely used
Show configuration page only once

How to arrange bundles?
When the sales rep uses bundles to generate their quotes, listing all products within the bundle in organized groups helps them build quotes faster. They also prefer the entire group to stay together when they moved into a different group. With the Keep Bundle Together settings enabled within Salesforce CPQ, salesforce will helo sales rep keep that bundle moved from one group to another. This setting is by default enabled. However, this can be disabled if you prefer to allow the sales rep to be able to split the package between groups. Disabling this setting will add extra overhead to the sales rep to remember not to break the package when not applicable to the business.
Salesforce CPQ lets you, the Salesforce admin, control the experience of adding bundles to a quote so that sales reps have the easiest time possible, putting their quotes together.
